Wow! You're fast, I'm slow. I'm working on transferring 12 pages of Hurricane Wilma survival notes to this Blog. Here's the short story on our escape from the Moon Palace Resort In Cancun Mexico.

We boarded a bus and left the Moon Palace Resort Expo Center at 3:00 pm, Tuesday, October 25, 2005. After traveling though flooded roads, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and a VERY narrow road, we made a short stop in Valladolid. Our bus arrived in Merida around midnight Tuesday. If you made this same escape, you know the airport here was chaos.

After several frantic hours trying to arrange flights, Ron and Suzi, and Allison and Audrey, bought the last seats on a Continental Airlines flight to Houston. They left around 8:00 am Wednesday. Allison and Audrey were booked on a flight directly back to our home in Birmingham, and Ron and Suzi returned to Birmingham via Atlanta. All arrived later that night.

Meanwhile, Madi and myself were left in Merida. After several more frantic hours, and some very harsh "discussions" with U.S. Consulate personnel and Continental Airlines personnel, someone in line allowed me to contact our American Express tour representative. Our angel Susan at American Express arranged a flight for us.

So Madi and I left Merida at 3:00 Wednesday on an AeroMexico flight. We spent the night in Mexico City, and caught a flight to Atlanta on Thursday morning. After getting our van in Atlanta, Madi and I drove home. We finally arrived home around 5:00 pm, Thursday, seven days after we were evacuated from our hotel room.
